RULES AND REGULATIONS
Rockton Agricultural Society will do its utmost to see that all safety precautions are met to protect the public and to safeguard the exhibits but it is up to the exhibitor to see that all animals are well trained, under full control and equipment is in a safe condition.  Exhibitors of cattle (4H exhibitors exempt) must submit some form of written proof, from your insurance company showing policy number and an expiry date after Thanksgiving Day and that you carry liability insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000.00 and that you are covered for showing your animals at fairs or exhibitions. This proof must be provided at the time of making your entries.  4-H exhibitors are covered already by their 4-H Association. Note Rules 6 & 7 under "Powers of Society".

1. DEFINITIONS
     (a) For the purpose of Classifications, an exhibit shall be interpreted as follows: All purebred registered animals, whether owned by one person or by more than one person (individually or jointly), are considered to be the production of the farm or breeding unit on which they are maintained.
     (b) A Breeding Unit is defined as follows: In each classification where the same or common interests are involved in more than one breeding operation, such operations are considered as one Breeding Unit. In all cases where there is any doubt that more than one breeding unit exists, the interpretation shall be that only one breeding unit exists. The responsibility of proof of separation of breeding units shall rest with the exhibitor(s).

2. Number of exhibits Per Breeding Unit
     A fair has the authority to increase the number of exhibits from a breeding unit from 10 to 12 exhibits to allow 4-H calves to be shown by 4-H members in open classes. Such additional exhibits will not be eligible to compete in the Breeder's Herd class. All exhibits must be owned by and registered as purebred in the name of the exhibitor. Note exceptions in the Breeder's Herd Class. There is no restriction on multiple exhibits in any classes excluding the Breeder's Herd class.

3. Cattle are not to be removed from stalls prior to 4 p.m. and MUST be out of the barns no later than 6 p.m.  Any Exhibitor removing animals before 4 p.m. will have a 50% deduction from prize winnings. Thank You.

4. Vehicles transporting animals are to ENTER & EXIT through the 5th Conc. Gate ONLY. Signage will be posted for this entrance, please refer to the map on the back of the prize book. EXHIBITORS OF LIVESTOCK (CATTLE, HORSES-, SHEEP & GOATS) WILL RECEIVE 1 PASS FOR EXHIBITORS OF 1 ANIMAL, WILL RECEIVE 2 PASSES FOR EXHIBITORS OF 2 TO 4 ANIMALS AND 3 PASSES FOR 5 OR MORE ANIMALS, IF PRE-REGISTERED ON TIME, IN ADDITION TO THE VEHICLE AND DRIVER BEING ALLOWED IN FREE. All others must have a current pass or ribbon or pay at the gate. (Preschoolers are the ONLY exception)

5. All exhibits must be weighed at the show prior to showing with the birth date, show weight, and weight per day of age for all calves and yearlings to be exhibited in individual Classes to be posted in the stall. In making entries the owner's name and address in full and all the required information about the animal must be filled in. Entries not in the hands of the General Manager 21 days before the show date will be considered LATE.

6. Ribbons for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placing only.

Section 14A - OPEN BREEDING HEIFER CLASS
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11th, 2008, 2:00 p.m.
-Animals not allowed to show in Open Breeding Heifer Class, if shown in Jack Pot Heifer Show or pure bred classification.
-2 yearling heifers per exhibitor.

1. Class for Purebred, Bred Heifers, Born 2007.
2. Class for Crossbreds, Bred Heifers, Born 2007.
    Prize Money $100; $75; $60; $50; $45; $40; $20; plus $20 for all exhibits.

Section 14B - COMMERCIAL BEEF JACKPOT SHOW
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11th, 2008
1:00 p.m. in the Agridome

RULES
1. Not more than 3 entries per section and 6 per show by one exhibitor.

EXHIBITORS OF CATTLE MUST SUBMIT A "MEMORANDUM OF INSURANCE" FORM COMPLETED BY THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY AND NAMING ROCKTON AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY AS ADDITIONAL INSURED. COPY INCLUDED WITH ENTRY FORM/APPLICATION. Note Rules 6 & 7 under "Powers of Society".

2. Exhibitors must pay an $10 Exhibitor Fee. Jackpot entry fee - $25 per exhibit (Animal). *Note - absolutely no entries accepted after Oct 1st, 2008 Non-returnable entry fee must accompany entry. All steers and heifers must enter Jackpot.
Total jackpot will be divided between the show champion (60%) and the Reserve Champion (30%) and 3rd place (10%). No deductions.

3. This Commercial Production Feature is sponsored by Rockton Agricultural Society.
Sponsors of the Steer Classes first prizes are Peel Mutual Insurance Company, Mohawk Ford Sales & Service, Ron Berry and Merit Insurance Brokers and Millgrove Packers.

Class
1-4   Commercial Beef Steers: There will be a maximum of 4 Classes, with a minimum of 5 animals per Class. Classes will be divided by weight. Weigh-in will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. the day of the show. All Commercial Beef Steers must enter the Jackpot.
          Prizes - $100; $75; $60; $50; $45; $40; $20; $20.
          15% of prize money will be deducted in lieu of entry fee.
5-6   Commercial Beef Heifers: Maximum of 2 Classes minimum of 5 animals per Class. Animals not to be shown in Sections 14A, 15, 16, 17 or 18. All Commercial Beef Heifers will enter a separate Jackpot.
          Prizes - $100; $75; $60; $50; $45; $40; $20; $20.
          15% of prize money will be deducted in lieu of entry fee.
7   Groups of 3 Steers or Heifers, owned by the exhibitor. Must have been shown in one of the above classes.
         Prizes - $100; $75; $60; $50; $45

RULES FOR SECTIONS 15-18

If more than 15 animals in a class the class will be split.

Section 15 - GALLOWAY - Saturday October 11th, 2:00 pm

Section 17 - SHORTHORN - Saturday October 11th, 2:00 pm
Section 18 - All Other Breeds - Sunday October 12th, 11:00 am

There will be a deduction of 15% of all prize monies in lieu of entry fee.  Late entries deduction 20% (entries received by the General Manager less than 21 days prior to the show will be considered LATE).
Classes
1. Bull calf - born on or after January 1, 2008 minimum of three months of age on judging day.
2. Bull yearling, born January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007.
    Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Bull Rosettes
3. 2 year old Bull- born January 1st to December 31st, 2006
4. Female calf - born on or after January 1st, 2007, minimum 3 months of age at time of judging.
5. Female - born April 1st to December 31st, 2007.
6. Female - born January 1st to March 31st, 2007.
7. Female - born 2006 with her own 2008, natural, purebred, tattooed calf at foot. Female and calf shall be shown as a unit.
8. Female - born prior to 2006 with her own 2008, natural, purebred, tattooed calf at foot. Female and calf shall be shown as a unit except that the calf is eligible to be shown as a single unit in Class 8 .
    Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Female - Rosettes
8. Breeder's Herd - A group of 4 animals bred by the exhibitor. Both sexes must be represented. Each animal must have been exhibited in one of the above breeding classes. At least one animal must be owned by the exhibitor. Limited to one exhibit per exhibitor.
