Each person exhibiting will receive $10.00 sponsored by McIntosh E.T.,

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.
Rockton Agricultural Society will do its utmost to see that all safety
precautions are met to protect the public and to safeguard the exhibits but it
is up to the exhibitor to see that all animals are well trained, under full
control and equipment is in a safe condition. Exhibitors of cattle
(4H exhibitors exempt) must submit some form of written proof, from your
insurance company showing policy number and an expiry date after Thanksgiving
Day and that you carry liability
insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000.00 and that you are covered for
showing your animals at fairs or exhibitions. This proof must be
provided at the time of making your entries. 4-H
exhibitors are covered already by their 4-H Association. Note Rules 6 & 7
under "Powers of Society".

2. Vehicles transporting animals are to ENTER & EXIT through the 5th Conc.
Gate ONLY. Signage will be posted for this entrance please refer to the
map on the back of the prize book. EXHIBITORS OF LIVESTOCK (CATTLE, HORSES,
SHEEP & GOATS) WILL RECEIVE 1 PASS FOR EXHIBITORS OF 1 ANIMAL, WILL RECEIVE 2 PASSES FOR EXHIBITORS OF
2 TO 4 ANIMALS AND 3
PASSES FOR 5 OR MORE ANIMALS, IF PRE-REGISTERED ON TIME, IN ADDITION TO THE
VEHICLE AND DRIVER BEING ALLOWED IN FREE. All others must have a current
pass or ribbon or pay at the gate. (Preschoolers are the ONLY
exception)
3. Note: ENTRIES ARE DUE at the Fair Office BEFORE SEPTEMBER 29th, 2008.
Building for stabling animals will be available Sunday, October 12th after
6p.m.
Maximum of 2 substitutions per exhibitor. There will be a deduction of 15% of
all prize monies in lieu of entry fees.

Entries are to be on Rockton Fair entry forms. Fax No. (519) 647-3899. Entries
must be filled out completely and be legible. Cattle must not be removed
from the stalls before 4:30p.m. the day of the show. Classes are open to
any exhibitor owning registered Ayrshire and Jersey dairy cattle. All
rules of Rockton Fair and the Ayrshire-Jersey Invitational Show will be
adhered to. Exhibitors must provide their own feed, straw-bedding and
supplies.
4. Exhibitors are requested to be neatly and appropriately attired in
white when showing their animals in the ring.
5. All dairy animals must have an NLID approved plastic ear tag to be
allowed to be shown.
6. Rockton Agricultural Society will not be responsible for any loss, damage
or accident to any person or property on the grounds during the Fair, however
caused.
HARNESS CARDS WILL BE USED INSTEAD OF HATBANDS FOR JERSEY & AYRSHIRE
SHOWS. EACH EXHIBITOR WILL NEED TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN HARNESS.

10. Breeder's Herd - A group of three (3) animals bred by the
exhibitor,
limited to one exhibit per exhibitor. Exhibitor must have bred all three
animals and own at least two.
11. Best Udder - The Judge shall designate the Best Udder (if deemed
worthy) in Classes 5, 6, 7, 8, & 9.
Prize Money $30 for each class.

12. Production Prize - $50 will be awarded to the cow in each breed,
placing in the top four (4) in classes 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 which has the Highest
Composite BCA for a single record (completed records only). A cow can

13. Premier Breeder Award. Sponsored by GENCOR
Presented to the Breeder winning the most points according to the

Entrants shall register between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
REGULATIONS - in addition
to the general Fair Rules & Regulations the following shall apply:
1. Open to youths ages 14-21 inclusive as of January 1st, 2008.
2. Entries will be accepted by the Fair General Manager up to and including
the closing date of September 29th, 2008.
3. A maximum of 12 contestants will be selected from the entries by means of a
draw. Entrants who are accepted will be informed by October 8th, 2008.
4. Entrants, at the time of registration, will provide a resume on an approved
form.
5. Rockton Fair will supply the dairy heifers. The heifers will be washed with
their heads clipped. They will be allocated on a draw basis.
6. Entrants must have one other person (ages 14-21) as an assistant to hold
the animal. The assistant will not advise on clipping
techniques.
7. Entrants shall provide all their own clipping apparatus. Outlets will be
provided.
8. Entrants will be allowed up to 1.5 hours for clipping and preparation.
9. Rockton Fair will provide each entrant with two admission tickets and two
lunch vouchers.
10. Entrants will be judged on their ability to prepare the heifer they have
drawn. All heifers will not be of equal conformation and therefore the
objective of each entrant is to prepare their animal in a manner that takes
the heifer from its state of preparedness at the start of the competition to
as close as possible to the breeds true type. Entrants and their assistants
are to be properly attired for clipping. Some emphasis may be placed on attire
and method of operation.

animals.
PRIZES - 1st, $200 and a crested jacket; 2nd, $150; 3rd, $125; 4th, $,100;
all others $50.
The Jacket will be presented at Awards Night November 28rd, 2008.
