MEMBERSHIP
1. The annual Associate Membership Fee of the Rockton Agricultural Society (R.A.S.)
is $12.00. In order to become an Associate Member of R.A.S., you must be
nominated at the Annual General Meeting. You must agree to work on a Committee(s)
and in turn, you will receive voting privileges, if you are eighteen (18) years
of age or older, and you will receive a ribbon for entry to the Fair.
EXHIBITOR FEES
1. Each Exhibitor must pay a yearly Exhibitor Fee of $10.00 for which they can
exhibit as many entries as they wish, and will receive one (1) admission ticket
to the current Fair.
This Exhibitor Fee will be waived if you are a paid up
Associate Member of the R.A.S.
2. 4-H Club Members, Junior exhibitors in the Junior Fair, School Fair
exhibitors, Senior Citizens and Certified Visually Challenged are not required
to pay an Exhibitor Fee when entering their respective Sections; but on entering
open classes, an Exhibitor Fee will be required.
This Exhibitor Fee will be
waived for 4-H Club Members exhibiting only their current year's 4-H project in
an open show.
ENTRIES
1. All entries of articles and livestock intended for exhibition must be made on
printed forms, filled out and signed by the exhibitor or their agent. Proper
forms will be furnished on application to the General Manager.
2. All entries for the exhibition halls, excluding School Fair, must be received
by the General Manager on printed forms, not later than one week prior to
judging. Late entries and entries that are changed or added to the original
entry list will be charged $1 each. No exhibitor will be allowed to enter for
competition more than one entry in any one class except where otherwise
mentioned.
3. On Thursday, October 9th, 2008, all hall entries, except Wine and
Photography, may be placed between 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
4. All entries must be the bonafide property of the exhibitor and be made or
worked by the exhibitor.
5. No articles will be admitted with name, initial or distinguishing mark
thereon.
6. No articles in the Exhibition Halls will be allowed to be removed until 5:00
pm, Monday, Thanksgiving Day, at which time the halls will be cleared by the
officers on the grounds. All exhibitors will be furnished with a Hall Pass,
which will entitle them to re-enter the halls to remove their exhibits.
7. While the Directors will take every possible precaution under the
circumstances to secure the safety of articles sent to the exhibition, the
owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting. Should any article be
accidentally injured, lost or stolen, the Directors will give all the assistance
in their power toward the recovery, but will not make payment for the value
thereof.
8. To discourage the practice of sending exhibits in care of the Director in
charge of a department, the following will be strictly enforced. While every
possible assistance will be most cheerfully given in placing exhibits, no
package or case of any kind will be opened, unless accompanied by the exhibitor
or someone responsible for the exhibit.
9. If any article or animal is taken from the grounds before specified times, the
exhibitor of same may not be entitled to any prize which may have been awarded.
10. All horses must be moved out of cattle barns by 8:00 am to make room for
cattle coming in. If this is not done, the offending exhibitor will be
disqualified from any class, either shown or to be shown.
11. Any articles left in the buildings after (6:00 pm) Monday,
will be at the risk of the exhibitor.
12. Fair Directors reserve the right to reject and remove any livestock for health, safety reasons, or general appearance."
PIPEDA
The Rockton Agricultural Society (RAS) is committed to the safeguarding of
personal information collected from exhibitors and Associate Members in
accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act
(PIPEDA). Personal information collected will not be sold or disclosed for
reasons other than for why it was collected. Please see our entry forms.
JUDGES and JUDGING
1. All exhibits in the show, shall be known to judges by ticket and number.
2.
No one will be allowed to interfere, by conversation, or otherwise with a judge, while said judge is on duty judging a class.
3. Any exhibitor or attendant who is guilty of creating a disturbance whether by
openly criticizing the judge or using obscene language to any judge or officer,
shall therefore forfeit the right to any award and may be suspended from
exhibiting by the Director in charge.
PRIZES
1. When the amount of prize money won by an exhibitor is $20.00 or over, $10.00
will be retained by the society as the following year's Exhibitors Fee and a
Fair pass worth $10.00 will be enclosed with the new prize book, except for 4-H
club members, Junior exhibitors, School Fair exhibitors, and exhibitors in the
Senior Citizen classes.
2. All perpetual trophies will be engraved by the society, and presented at
Awards Night. Trophies are to be returned by opening of next fair.
3. There will be a deduction of 15% of all prize monies in lieu of entry fee,
(excluding special prizes), except where entry fee is stated. Entry fees will be
used as prize money.
POWERS OF SOCIETY
1. Where the Board of Directors of the Society has reason to believe that an
exhibitor or attendant has committed a fraud or misrepresentation, detrimental
to the fair, the Board has the power to withhold payment or delivery of any
award, until such time that such person proves to the satisfaction of the Board
that no fraud or misrepresentation has been committed or made.
2. Exhibitors shall, if required by the Committee of Grievances, make a statutory declaration that the articles exhibited by them are exhibited in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Society, and in case any exhibitor refuses to make such declaration on being requested, all awards shall be forfeited by her, him, or them.
3. Any exhibitor lodging a protest must make it in writing and deliver it to the General Manager before 12:00 noon, Tuesday, following the fair. The cause of the protest must be clearly stated and accompanied by a deposit of Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00) which sum shall be forfeited if protest is not sustained. The Board of Directors, however, earnestly hope that the exhibitors will not enter protest without the strongest grounds for so doing, as much annoyance and unpleasantness is often caused by protests of a frivolous nature.
4. All protests will be decided by the Committee of Grievances, namely Jeanette Jamieson, Murray Hunt, Harvey Wood and the President. Any three named to make the decision which Shall be final.
5. The Directors in Charge shall be at liberty, for cause or in their uncontrolled discretion, and without giving reason therefore, to bar any exhibitor or any animal from participating in, or competing or continuing to participate or compete in any event, and also cause any exhibitor and any such animal to be removed from the premises of the society.
6. Exhibitors of Cattle and Horses will be required to provide their liability insurance company certificate showing policy number, amount, and date of expiry, when they make their entries, and to hold harmless the Rockton Agricultural Society of any loss, damage or injury to or by their exhibit(s). The Society will not be responsible for any loss, damage or accident to any person or property on the grounds.
7. No concession will be allowed to be placed on the ground until the fee is paid to the Committee in Charge.
8. The Managing Committee consists of the President, the First Vice- President, the Second Vice-President, and the General Manager. This committee will be in attendance on each day of the fair.
9. The interpretation of all rules and regulations is made by the Managing committee and its decision will be final. In case an error occurs in the printing of this prize list, the Managing committee has the power to rectify same.
10. The Management of Rockton Agricultural Society advise all exhibitors and all others concerned that the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the buildings or on the grounds of the Society, is prohibited. According to the Liquor laws of Ontario such persons found in possession of alcoholic beverages leave themselves open to prosecution by the proper authorities.
HOMECRAFT DIVISION
. All entry forms for Section 68 to 94 (excepting sections 81 & 82)
must be
received by the General Manager,
Rockton Agricultural Society, by Friday, Oct. 03, 2008
. Each late entry will be charged $1.00 per item.
. All exhibits must be received on Thursday, October 9th, 2008 (excepting
sections 81 & 82)
between 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in the Farm & Home Building.
. Exhibits must be picked up between 5.00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 13th, 2007.
. All special prizes will be in addition to 1st prize, unless otherwise stated.
. Note: $25.00 is provided to each section by the Ladies of the Fair as part of the prize money.
