SPELLING BEE - ROCKTON FAIR

1 . The will be a Spelling Bee open to students in Grades 4 and 5.
2. A school must enter a team of five students. The team must contain some Grade 4 students and some Grade 5 students.
3. The grade is the one in which the student is registered as of September 2008.
4. Each school may enter one team.
5. Pre-registration of the teams is required by September 30, 2008.
6. Details will be mailed to schools in April 2008.
The winning team will receive a trophy donated by Gladys and Cecil Hamilton, and cash prizes.  Team members will receive participation certificates and midway tickets donated by Campbell Amusements.  This contest is, again this year, supported by the Strabane Optimists

Class II - J.K. and Kindergarten - Topic - Open - 2 minutes.
          1st, $10.00, 2nd, $8.00; 3rd, $7.00; 4th, $6.00; 5th, $5.00.
Class III - Grades 1 & 2 - Topic - Open 3 minutes.
          1st, $12.00, 2nd, $10.00; 3rd $8.00; 4th, $7.00; 5th, $6.00.
Class IV - Grades 3 & 4 - Topic - Open 3 minutes.
          1st, $12.00, 2nd, $10.00; 3rd $8.00; 4th, $7.00; 5th, $6.00.
Class V - Grades 5 & 6 - Topic - Open 3 minutes.
          1st, $15.00; 2nd, $13.00; 3rd, $12.00 4th, $10.00; 5th, $8.00.
Class VI - Grades 7 & 8 - Topic - Open 4 minutes.
          1st, $15.00; 2nd, $13.00; 3rd, $12.00 4th, $10.00; 5th, $8.00.
Commemorative Plaque donated by Sheffield Lions Club awarded to 1st prize speaker in each Class. Midway tickets provided to all participants by Campbell Amusements & Ed Oldham. All non-winning participants will receive cash award of $2.00 and merit ribbons.
